Why Should I Attend?
School counselors and college access professionals play a crucial role in guiding students through their educational and career pathways. Attending a College Access Boot Camp can be particularly beneficial for several reasons:
1. Updated Information: These meetings provide counselors and advisors with the latest information on college admissions processes, financial aid opportunities, and scholarship programs.
2. Networking: Counselors and advisors can connect with state higher education representatives, other school counselors, and college access professionals, fostering relationships that can benefit their students.
3. Support for First-Generation Students: Counselors and advisors can gain strategies to better support first-generation college students, who may not have the same level of access to college-related information as their peers.
4. Resource Sharing: These meetings include resources and tools that counselors and advisors can bring back to their schools to help students navigate the college application process more effectively.
5. Professional Development: Attending these meetings contributes to the professional growth of counselors and advisors, keeping them informed about best practices and emerging trends in college access and readiness. Six hours of PDP credit is available for your portfolio or renewal of teacher certification.
