Overview
The TCAT Reconnect Grant is available to students who are classified as independent on the FAFSA. Students must enroll in a full-time program at a TN College of Applied Technology in order to be eligible.
Award Information
- Award amount varies based on amount of remaining tuition and mandatory fees after all other gift aid has first been applied
- Scholarship is terminated after student earns a certificate OR diploma
Eligibility
- Be a Tennessee resident as classified by the Tennessee Board of Regents; pursuant to TCA 49-8-104,
- File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the deadline, and be classified as an independent student
- Fall – November 1
- Winter/Spring – March 1
- Summer – June 30
- Enroll in a certificate or diploma program at a Tennessee College of Applied Technology, and maintain satisfactory academic progress and continuous enrollment
Application
Apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available at www.fafsa.gov. Early application is recommended. For additional information, visit the Tennessee Reconnect website.

You will be redirected to the TSAC Student Portal. Applying for a scholarship (example: the Tennessee Promise) is not complete once a student portal account has been created. Next, you must re-enter your Username and Password and answer the challenge question. Once you have accepted the “User Agreement”, click the “Apply for Scholarships” button and then click the appropriate scholarship program to complete and submit the online application.
