All Applicants
- Complete this online application.
After you are finished, click the 'SUBMIT' button located on the left column of the application and follow the directions.
Print two copies of the application agreement statement that appears after you submit the completed online application and send a signed copy to the address on the right.
- Submit a one-time, nonrefundable $10 application fee.
- All full-time students born 1957 and later must provide proof of immunization with two doses of measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines administered on or after their first birthday, unless they graduated from a Tennessee public high school in 1999 or later.
- All students are required to complete the Hepatitis B Health History Form online prior to registration.
Students under the age of 18 must print the form and have a parent or guardian sign and then submit to the Office of Admissions.

Degree Seeking Student
(First-time college student or transfer student)
- Request high school to send official copy of your academic transcript showing date of graduation directly to Volunteer State Office of Admissions, or submit an official copy of GED scores (if applicable).
- Submit ACT or SAT scores if under 21 years of age as of the first day of class for the first term of enrollment.
(Scores are used for placement and counseling purposes only.) If 21 or over, see testing section below.
- Request all previously attended colleges to send official copies of your academic transcript (with college seal) directly to Volunteer State Office of Admissions.
- International students, requiring an I-20, should follow the instructions outlined in the Volunteer State Community College catalog under the sections "How to Enroll" and "International Students."
- Register for your classes online and pay fees!
Technical Certificate Student
- Request high school to send official copy of your academic transcript showing date of graduation directly to Volunteer State Office of Admissions, or submit an official copy of GED scores (if applicable).
- Take the ACT or placement test, if required for selected courses.

Nondegree Seeking Student

- Request an official copy of your transcript from the college you are currently attending be sent directly to Volunteer State Office of Admissions.

Testing
- ACT, SAT, and/or testing scores are NOT used to determine admission to Volunteer State Community College.
Scores are used for placement, counseling, and advising purposes only.
- Students 21 years of age or older as of the first day of class for the first term of enrollment must take a placement test to determine appropriate placement in college level or developmental classes.
Students with transfer credit should contact the Advising Center at (615) 230-3702 to determine if they need to test.
- International students and students whose language spoken in the home is not English may be required to take the TOEFL or MELAB or other placement test.

Notice
If you are accepted as a student at this institution, there are certain performance tests you will be required to take during your academic career.
It is a requirement of admission that you agree to take any tests deemed necessary by the institution.
In those instances where tests are administered by an external entity, you hereby agree for the results of such tests to be released to the institution.
The purpose of this requirement is to comply with the legislature’s expressed intent that institutions regularly evaluate and improve instruction at all levels.
If you are under twenty-one (21) years of age and are required by institutional policy to complete the ACT test, your scores on these tests and course placement may be reported to your high school for research purposes.
Any test scores will be treated confidentially as required by law.
